Current Coursework
Students are studying the country of Morocco. They will learn some of the history and culture of this northern African Nation.
The Teachers
Heather Fleming (Ms. Heather) comes to us from Rochester, NY and is in her third year at SBCS. Heather is a 2004 graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY. She is presently a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University where she is pursuing her Master's degree in Teaching. Heather is currently member of the Baltimore City Teaching Residency Program. Prior to SBCS, Heather has worked with youth at the YMCA and Living Classrooms Foundation. She is a published writer and poet and continually works on and at her writing. She also started both an after school poetry club and dance club for the students at SBCS.
Lisa Dannenberg (Ms. Dannenberg) was born and raised in Owings Mills, Maryland. She attended college in Charleston, South Carolina, where she majored in Elementary Education. Lisa completed her student teaching at an urban, Title I school in Charleston, where she taught second grade. In May 2007, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the college and after graduation she moved out to Boulder, Colorado for a year where she was an assistant teacher at a private Montessori school, teaching grades 4-6. She moved back to her native Baltimore in July 2008 in order to be closer to family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys reading, being outdoors, and going to sporting events. Ms. Dannenberg is very excited to be at SBCS and looks forward to meeting her first graders!
