The Teachers

Grace Hayes (Ms. Hayes) hails from Loganville, Georgia, but was born in Baltimore and later moved to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and then Georgia. She began her teaching career in Baltimore as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. She spent 5 years at Samuel Coleridge Taylor Elementary (#122) and then moved to Georgia where she taught 5th grade for 4 years, 6th grade for 5 years, and 1 year as an 8th grade teacher. Can you believe it- fifteen years? If you saw her you wouldn't believe it- she looks so young! She is now delighted to be back in Baltimore teaching and enjoying the crab cakes which she has missed for the past 10 years.
Ms. Hayes currently holds a B.S degree from Penn State University, a M.A.T from Coppin State University, an Ed.S from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee, and is currently working on an Ed.D from Argosy University in Atlanta. She loves teaching and learning!
In her spare time (what's that?), She enjoys reading her Bible and learning about God's purpose for her life, bowling, eating crab cakes (when she can find someone to cook them for her), and movies; especially comedies. Laughter is therapy to the soul. She looks forward to an exciting and rewarding adventure here at SBCS this year.

Abby Yunker (Ms. Yunker)comes to us from one of the smallest towns in Indiana. She moved here 2 years ago to be a teacher in the city. She has taught 1 year of third grade and this will be her second year teaching fourth grade. She has degrees in early childhood and elementary education and a minor in special education. She really enjoys working with children and has always seen herself being a teacher. She looks forward to working with SBCS and fostering the children of the school to become successful people.
