Current Coursework
Students are studying the country of Japan. They will learn some of the history and culture of this island nation in eastern Asia.

The Teachers

Lee Homesley (Mr. Homesley) is originally from Muskogee, Oklahoma, but has lived in more places than he can count. He taught middle school for five years in Fairfield, CA from 2000-2005. He continued to teach Middle School in O'Fallon, MO from 2005-2007. Last year, he taught locally at Holabird Middle School in Dundalk, MD. Mr. Homesley graduated from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA with a BA in English in 1999 and with a Teacher's Certification in Mild/Moderate Learning Disabilities in 2000. In 2004, he graduated again from Humboldt State University with an advanced "Level 2" teaching certification. Last year he became "dual-certified" in both Elementary Education and Special Education. Mr. Homesley enjoys reading Stephen King, watching movies, and watching and playing sports. He loves to learn about anything and has many interests and will return to college next summer to work on his master's degree or perhaps pursue another Bachelor's degree.

Vaishali Dharmadhikari (Ms. Dharmadhikari) grew up in Columbia, MD. She graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 with a BA in International Studies and Music. After that, she joined Teach for America and taught 4th grade at Harford Heights Intermediate in the city. She also has experience in the field of Family Literacy and working with English Language Learners as she worked for 2 non-profits in NYC: Learning Leaders and Project Reach Youth. Ms. Dharmadhikari is one of our founding teachers at SBCS and has taught first grade. She is currently working on Masters in Education in Reading at Loyola College.
